keeping discovering..

when I began the trip I didn´t know about the existence, when entering Brasil I started to hear it named, when I started to consider it all the people that had been there gave me an enthusiastic ok, now after the adventure itself to reach it through sandy tracks, puddles and jungle I can proudly say I have been and I loved it!!

For sure people know Rio, the Amazon, Bahia but how many have a clue where the Parque Nacional dos Lençois Maranhenses is? Lençois in portuguese means bed sheets, so the National Park of the Maranhão´s bed sheets; pretty much resemble a huge untidy bed that with just about 3000 colourful lagoons create a suggestive landscape.. and what a experience when you jump into this paradisiac natural pools and swim and the water is warmly around 30 - 35 degrees!! anyway still rainy season..the cloudburst arrived in the afternoon..

the National Park itself covers a huge area, something like.. a bit less the city of Rome!! and is so unspoiled that you really feel, like Brasilians say : "paradise on earth"!

Basically only about 1/1000th is easily accessible, and the fact that the main closest destination (Salvador de Bahia) is 2 hours away by plane and 4 hours by bus make the place more liitle touristic..the schedule now takes me to the immense Rio Amazonas that I will try to navigate (partly!)..

quando ho cominciato il viaggio non sapevo che esistesse, quando poi son entrato in Brasile ho cominciato a sentirlo nominare, e quando ho cominciato a considerarlo tutte le persone che ci erano state mi han dato un´entusiasta ok, adesso che dopo l´avventura di raggiungerla attraversando tracciati sabbiosi, giungla e pozzanghere posso orgogliosamente dire di esserci stato e che é fantastico!!

sicuramente la gente conosce Rio, l´Amazzonia, Bahia ma quanti hanno un´idea di dove il Parque Nacional dos Lençois Maranhenses sia? Lençois in portoghese significa lenzuola quindi il Parco Nazionale delle Lenzuola del Maranhão; diciamo che piú o meno da l´idea di un grandissimo letto scomposto che con una 3000 coloratissime lagune creano un suggestivo paesaggio.. e che esperienza quando poi ti tuffi in queste piscine naturali e nuoti e l´acqua calda sui 30 - 35 gradi!! é comunque stagione di pioggie...il nubrifagio arriverá nel pomeriggio..

il Parco Nazionale ricopre un´area smisurata quasi quanto la cittá di Roma ed é cosi intatta che realmente provi, come i Brasiliani dicono : "il paradiso in terra"!

fondamentalmente solo l´1/1000 é facilmente accessibile, e il fatto che la piú vicina popolare destinazione (Salvador de Bahia) é a due ore di aereo e quattro di autobus la rende ancor piú poco turistica!

il programma ora mi porta al delta dell´immenso Rio Amazonas che proveró a navigare (parzialmente!)..
