with just 25 hours of delay.. we began the navigation..this has meant some plan changing, a flight, I had arranged,cancellation, a higher percentage of patience! but still flying above the Amazon river (2-3 hours!) would have been like attending a wedding and avoid the wedding cake because too calorific!!
even if it means spending uselessly one week lying on a not very comfy hammock, or upset your diet for a week or feel like arguing every 10 minutes!! the initial 3 days became 5 and half and the arrival became Manaus and not Santarem, different stops along the way in some small villages on the banks of the river, some, personally unexpected, encounters with isolated pile dwellings and small boats with indian kids approacching our for buscuits or just anything people could give, or simply curiosity!
one of the nights while brasilians were noisily playing domino and dancing the loud, all day the same music, I was sneaking in the cargo deck where hundreads of matresses were stored and while I was enjoying the spot (just a bit comfier than the hammock!) I had got, somebody sneaking into my backpack that I had too naively left unattended : 50 - 60 R$ ( around 17 - 20 euros)..this was actually one of the main concerns and it´s kinda expected, normal as normal on a journey like this as spotting dolphins is, as normal as getting annoyed or bothered by the many useless, drunk, sleepy, weird, scary people on the boat!
time is unimportant and Brasilians don´t mind, actually as long as there is music or football and cachaça or beer life is fine!!
Standard landscape, though not as boring as firstly thought, great adventure and some insights into the life in this areas and experience you hardly encounter, the slow pace and the slow enjoyement of the vagetation at his highest wildness and the waters powerful owners of the view where not even many animals decide to make it their habitat.
Penetrated the Amazon, now heading north to enter Venezuela´s savannah...
con appena 25 ore di ritardo.. abbiam cominciato la navigazione...
questo ha significato dei cambi di progetto, la cancellazione di un volo che avevo programmato, una percentuale piú alta di pazienza!! ma tuttavia volare sul Rio delle Amazzoni (2-3 ore!) sarebbe stato come andare a un matrimonio e non mangiarsi la torta nunziale perché troppo calorica!!
seppur significhi spendere inutilmente una settimana sdraiato su un´amaca non molto comoda, o sconvolgere la tua dieta per una settimana o avvertire la voglia di litigare ogni 10 minuti!!
i 3 giorni iniziali diventarono 5 e mezzo e l´arrivo Manaus e non piú Santarem, alcune fermate lungo il tragitto in piccoli villaggi sulle sponde del fiume, o alcuni, personalmente inaspettati, incontri con isolate palafitte e piccole imbarcazioni con bambini indiani che si avvicinavano alla nostra per biscotti o qualsiasi cosa la gente potesse dargli o solamente per curiositá!!
una delle notti, mentre i Brasiliani giocavano rumorosamente domino e ballavano la musica ad alto volume ripetuta ogni giorno, io mi intrufolavo nel settore carico dove centinaia di materassi erano conservati, e mentre mi godevo il posto (appena piú comodo dell´amaca!) scovato, qualcuno stava intrufolandosi nel mio zaino che molto ingenuamente avevo lasciato incustodito! 50 - 60 R$ (17 - 20 euro circa!).. questo a dire il vero era una delle principali preoccupazioni ed é da aspettarselo diciamolo in un viaggio di questo tipo, normale come individuare delfini puó essere, normale come essere irritati e disturbati dai tanti inutili, ubriachi, strani, assonnati, tipi loschi a bordo!
il tempo é irrilevante e i Brasiliani ai quali non dispiace, anzi fin quando c´é musica o calcio e cachaça o birra la vita va bene!
paesaggio standard, seppur no noioso come pensavo inizialmente, grande avventura e delle intuizioni e esperienze che poche volte si possono vivere, il passo lento e il lento piacere della vegetazione al suo piú alto stato naturale e le acque potenti padrone della vista dove neanche molti animali decidono di farci il loro habitat.
penetrata l´Amazzonia, ora rotta nord per entrare la savana Venezuelana..
