a young crowd, plenty of junkies or homeless for choice, a festival with 50 tastable beers, a moden and vibrant downtown. Portland is considered the most eco-friendly city in the USA and for sure it feels like, and this was also the biggest beer festival in the country too..that was my weekend in Portland, I crashed in Jim's living room, on his air matress, with his young brother's friend: all helps to control the budget..
traveling is a chain and travelers are the rings, we tend to give an hand to each other..Jim himself is the brother of his older brother Ryan that I met at the beginning of my trip in Argentina, while in Cafayate, just 17 months ago...
I enjoy to enjoy of the summer days, and I am more than positive that I wouldn't have liked being here in a different season as you say failing to prepare is preparing to fail and it's strategical the organization to rush and to slow down during the travel to match timings.
another beautiful day, parks and walks and some more beer tastings, some more inspiration for the book, some wine regions, wine tastings, wine talks, wineing...few hours driving nord east of Portland direction Walla Walla valley, that might have a funny name but for sure is an unbeaten path drive where scenery and nature meet for a great experience: a drive started with cascades and sequoia filling the rock formations picture on one side and the Columbia river on the other, and finished with the unexpected oddity of deserted areas without hills, rock formations, green and only a endless wheat field of a warm yellow..who would have expected that the Oregon police would fine 474 US (350 euros) for speed limit..and that here in Walla Walla (yes the city is called Walla Walla!!), at 6 hours driving south of the border with Canada, at 18:45 the temperature was 106F (41C) degree...
una folla giovane, parecchi junkies (tossici..) o senzatetto per scelta, un festival con 50 birre da provare, un centro moderno e vibrante. Portland e' considerata la citta' piu' eco-friendly (che rispetta l'ambiente) degli Stati Uniti e si vede e questo il festival delle birrerie piu' grande del paese..questo e' stato il mio weekend a Portland; sul materasso ad aria di Jim, con gli amici del suo fratello minore, e tutto aiuta per controllare il budget..
viaggiare e' come una catena e i viaggiatori sono anelli che tendono a darsi una mano..

mi piace godere di giorni di sole estivi e son piu' che positivo che non sarei cosi entusiasta se fossi qui in una stagione differente, come si direbbe fallire nel prepararsi significerebbe prepararsi a fallire e l'organizzazione, e l'affrettarsi e il rallentare consentono rispettare i tempi giusti.
un'altra giornata di sole, parchi, camminate e un po' di degustazione di birre, e un po' di ispirazione per il libro, alcune regioni di vino, degustazioni di vini, chiacchierate su vini, e vinando..un paio di ore di guida a nord est di Portland direzione la valle di Walla Walla, che certo avra' un nome divertente ma di sicuro e' un percorso poco conosciuto dove gli scenari e la natura insieme portano a una grande esperienza: una guida che comincia con cascate e sequoie che riempiono il paesaggio di formazioni di rocce da un latoe il fiume Columbia dall'altra e che finisce in un deserto senza colline, verde, formazioni rocciose e solo campi infiniti di grano di un giallo caldo..chi lo avrebbe detto poi che la polizia ti multa 474 US (350 euro) per eccesso di velocita' e che a Walla Walla (si il paese si chiama Walla Walla!!) che si trova a 6 ore di macchina sud dal confine col Canada alle 18 e 30 stanno 106F (41C) gradi!!
