amongst the most beautiful colonial towns in the all Americas, Antigua in Guatemala, fights for the best.
we safely arrived to one of the most popular destination in Central America, with facilities and services for any kind of gringo!!
the little we just spent gives excitment for what we still have to discover, and makes us forget the long and messed up bus ride that welcomed us to the new country.
the international bridge that defines the borders between El Salvador and Guatemala was easily achievable, but then the bus broke down twice half way from Guatemala city and then local bus in a quiet traffic free sunday afternoon, plus another "chicken bus" overcrowded, made the all journey a bit stressy and obviously delayed!
Guatemala unfortunately doesn't enjoy of good reputation about pubblic trasportation and the Nicaraguan touristic bus burnt down with all the passengers by robbers few months ago is a scary business card!

tra le piu' belle citta' coloniali delle Americhe, Antigua in Guatemala lotta per il gradino piu' alto.
abbiam raggiunto in sicurezza una delle piu' turistiche destinazioni del America Centrale, con servizi e strutture per qualsiasi tipo di gringo!
il poco che abbiam trascorso qui ci entusiasma per quello che ancora possiam scoprire e ci fa dimenticare il lungo e incasinato autobus che ci ha dato il benvenuto al nuovo paese.
il ponte internazionale che delimita i confini tra El Salvador e Guatemala era facilmente raggiungibile, ma poi il bus si e' guastato per due volte a meta' strada dalla citta' di Guatemala e poi un autobus locale in un tranquillo libero dal traffico domenica pomeriggio, piu' un'altro "autobus del pollo" sovraffollato, ha fatto si che il viaggio divenisse un po' stressante e ovviamente ritardato!!
purtroppo il Guatemala non gode di una buona reputazione riguardo autobus pubblici e il bus turistico Nicaraguense bruciato con tutti i passeggeri a bordo un paio di mesi fa da dei ladri e' un'allarmante biglietto da visita!!
